“Don’t be afraid; don’t be paralyzed. It’s time to live; we’ve got nothing to hide. We’re going out tonight. We are the light and we’re shining bright … in every city and every town we’re on a mission for the lost to be found. Light it up like a wildfire. Can you feel it now—God is alive!”

Sometimes we get so busy or so lazy or so preoccupied with life’s challenges that we forget why we are here. We were meant to shine—to light up our world with hope and let our love burst out to the world like a wildfire. We need to reignite our faith and trust God with our schedules and our plans, then go out to cities and towns where the love of Jesus is needed desperately. Let’s break through fear, quit being paralyzed and take action! It’s time to live; time to burn brightly for the Lord so that the world can see God’s love, grace and mercy. Light it up!

Isaiah 60: 1-3 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, the darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

Questions: Do you feel like your life shines brightly to the world around you? What do you want to work on so you can make changes to be a light in your personal world?

Prayer Power: Lord, please reignite my life so I can be on fire for you, shining your love and grace to the world around me. Guide my schedule and my heart so I can do a better job of making a difference in people’s lives, pointing them to you. Amen.

“When I feel my hope about the break I will cling to Your unchanging grace. Let the waters come and the earth give way. My feet are on the Rock. I can see the morning light. I can feel the joy on the horizon. Here my faith is found. I stand on solid ground. On Christ, the solid rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand. So stomp your feet and clap your hands; our feet are on the Rock.”

Are you standing on solid rock or sinking sand? There are times in life when we feel strong, rock-solid, like we are king of the mountain standing on our own personal rock. But most of the time that feeling does not last for long—do you agree? The sinking sand of life can swallow up our personal “rock-stand” quickly as circumstances change. The things we’ve accomplished or accumulated start to slip away. So, what really is solid and unchanging in this world? Who gives hope and shows us unchanging grace? Jesus Christ. He alone is the solid rock we should be standing on. All other ground is sinking sand. He will stand firm amidst the storms and challenges of this life. He will hold us close in the midst of changing circumstances, changing health, changing finances and changing relationships. He never changes. Let’s keep our feet on the rock of Jesus. It is there that we can stomp our feet, clap our hands and have hope!

Psalm 71:3 “Be my rock of refuge, to which I will always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.”

Questions: What rock are you currently standing on? Have you experienced any “sinking sand” recently? Will you take the step of faith to call on Jesus to be your solid rock?

Prayer Power: Dear Lord, you are my rock and my refuge. Help me to always stand firm in your protection and guidance. Keep me from the sinking sand of life. Amen.

“I’m a wavewalker. I’m dancing on water. When the devil tries to shake me I just pray harder. Even in my darkest hour, got Holy Ghost power. When I keep my eyes upon you, Jesus, I’m a wavewalker.”

This song is a faith-filled proclamation that we all need to sing along with and shout from the rooftops. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we can live a “wavewalker life,” a life of faith and trust no matter what storms come our way. One day at a time, one storm at a time, we need to be strong and not look down at the swirling water at our feet. When the “devil tries to shake us” we need to do what this song says—pray harder! And mostly what we need to do is lift our eyes to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith; he is always there to rescue us when we waiver. He is ready to transform us as we let him take control. He reaches out his hand to us just like he did to Peter in the midst of the storm that came up on the sea of Galilee. Let’s be like Peter and step out of the boat, trusting in Jesus. But let’s not get distracted by the wind and waves like Peter did, which made him start to sink. Let’s keep our eyes focused on Jesus and be transformed wavewalkers, one storm at a time!

Matthew 14:27-31a “But Jesus immediately said to them: (the disciples) ‘Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid,’ ‘Lord, if it’s you,’ Peter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on the water.’ ‘Come,’ he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me.’ Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.”

Questions: Have you ever had a powerful wavewalker experience where you stepped out of a boat in a life-storm, by faith, and knew that Jesus was right there with you? Have you ever had a time of wavering in faith when you felt like you were sinking and reached for Jesus to save you? Share your story with someone today!

Prayer Power: Dear Lord, help me to have wavewalking faith. Transform me so that I can always keep my eyes on you during the storms of life. Amen.
