“Heaven on Earth” by Stars Go Dim

“Take my life and let it be set on fire for all to see. Break me down; build me up again. Don’t leave me the way I’ve been. Take my heart into your hands. Come and finish what you began ‘til I seek your kingdom first, ‘til I shine like heaven on earth. I want to wake; I want to see all of the ways You’re moving. Show me the need, ‘cause I wanna be a part of what You’re doing.”

This song is a prayer, asking God for transformation and expressing willingness to be transformed. This prayer outlines a process. First comes an awareness that we don’t want to stay the way we’ve been. When we are stuck in the status quo, nothing changes. The song also expresses an awareness that there needs to be some ‘breaking down” before there can be “building up.” Next comes willingness—this means being open and willing to place your heart in God’s hands and allow him to transform your life. Willingness is then transformed into readiness, and only God can do that. It is an amazing thing how God can take our willingness and transform us so that we are brand new, shining like a little bit of heaven on earth.

It is then when God can use us to meet needs and make a difference in this world. Let’s all consider making the prayer of this song our own personal heartcry —”take my life and let it be set on fire for all to see.” Let’s ask God to wake us up and show us how he is moving, revealing where the needs are so we can be a part of the solution!

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Questions: Are you happy with your current “status quo” or are you in need of a transformation in some area of your life? Where are you along the process from awareness to readiness for change?

Prayer Power: Dear God, I am willing and ready for you to transform me so I can shine like heaven on earth for you. Take my life and let it be set on fire for your kingdom work to be accomplished through me. Amen.
