Is good friday really good?

You've likely heard it said that Sunday’s coming, and this phrase brings us hope as we look toward better days. Well, Easter Sunday’s coming and with that is great rejoicing for CHRIST IS RISEN! But we can't get to Sunday without going through Friday. And we can't get to Easter Sunday without walking through Good Friday. And I wonder – Is Good Friday really good?

In my humble opinion, as a sinner saved by grace, Good Friday isn't good...IT’S GREAT! It’s the greatest day that ever happened or will ever happen...to me and to you. On this day called Good Friday, Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, surrendered to his Heavenly Father's will to be ridiculed, beaten, humiliated, stripped of all dignity, and sacrificed on a Roman cross on our behalf. He had no sin, and yet our sins put him there. Jesus had the power to change the course of history, but He chose to be our Redeemer. Christ did this for you and He did this for me, and therefore, Good Friday changes everything…and yes, Sunday’s coming. Hallelujah! On that first Easter morning, those seeking to honor Christ didn't find his lifeless body in the tomb. Instead, they heard an angel say, Why do you search for the living among the dead? He is not here. He is risen. Friends, our redemption is here through the power of God, who brought Jesus from death to life – and He can do this for us as well!

Sundays ComingOn Easter Sunday we celebrate that power, and through the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit, that power lives within every person who believes. The Gospel says that those who believe will find everlasting life, and this is what we celebrate at Easter. Let that hope rise in us today as we consider what Christ willingly experienced on our behalf in order to make a way from eternal darkness to everlasting light. May we commit once again – or for the very first time – that we believe in Good Friday and Easter Sunday. That we will proclaim Christ’s victory over death until He comes again.

Pray and tell God that you believe. Ask him to forgive you of all your sin and redeem you by the power of the Holy Spirit. Dive into his Word to get to know Him better and to learn how to live for Him. Find a Bible-believing church and get connected. Reach out to us here at Body & Soul® Fitness and let us know your decision. We'll gladly connect you with a class where you can learn more about who you are in Christ and hear His word sung to music as you exercise and draw near to Him in community.

I want to challenge you to share this message with someone right now, because they need the hope of better days – hope of Easter. They need real life that only comes from the experience of walking through Good Friday into Easter Sunday. Be used by God today to encourage someone. This life is unpredictable and can be hard. Spread hope – Sunday’s coming!
