"Move (Keep Walking)" by Toby Mac
Impact
Life is full unwanted, unfair moments when we don’t understand “why,” and we feel like we “have nothing left” as this song says. Broken hearts—our own or those of loved ones. Unanswered prayers, causing sadness and frustration while waiting for the answers. It’s hard not to lose hope. But this song gives step one of a battle plan—it tells you what to do when you are in a life-moment as described above—move—keep walking!

I Love Chocolate, Squats and Jesus
Impact
Who would've ever thought that I would love squats? Not me. Who would've thought that I would be able to work out for a whole hour? Not me. Who could've possibly imagined that I'd one day become an instructor? Goodness, certainly not me.

Yet here I am, with an entirely different life, because God is surprising and kind, and because my friend wouldn't give up.

What Am I Missing?
Impact
Am I so busy that I’m missing life around me? Am I reaching so hard for the next season or the next “thing” in life that I can’t or won’t savor the season I’m currently in? What have I missed living this way?

The other week I started reading the Gospel of Luke. Chapter 3 contains a record of Jesus' genealogy that I hadn't really read before. To be honest, the first time I read Matthew, which starts with genealogy, I was cross-eyed by the time I got half way through and I skipped to the end. That was almost 20 years ago and in that time I have been through several amazing Bible studies, none of which had much to do with genealogy. However, in my studies on Covenant, Romans, Revelation, Joshua, Ruth and many more, I got to know some of the incredible people in the Bible and guess what? A lot of them are in the genealogy of Jesus! When I read through the list of names of who begat whom it wasn't a list of strangers but a list of people I knew. They aren't strangers to me, or faceless names but rather they are men of courage, integrity, and faith. Not perfect certainly (see David for instance) but real men living a real life who managed to be part of a family line that brought us Jesus. I would not have known them had I not been in Bible study all these years.

The Power of the Ask
Impact
When my family first contemplated a cross-country move, I automatically began searching websites for possible churches where we were relocating. As I did my Internet search, I stumbled upon a women’s ministry announcement about the local Body & Soul Fitness classes. I had never heard of Body & Soul, but I thought that it sounded like a cool idea to try it out. Well, the cross-country move happened, and Body & Soul remained just that – an idea of something I might do someday.

"Turbo Style" by Beckah Shae
Impact
Whether you are a competitive athlete or just a determined exerciser, this is a song that powers you up! Share it with your teens. Share it with your spouse. Share it with your friends. And don’t miss the real message. It’s not just about getting powered up -— it’s about WHO powers us up! It is the Spirit in us that gives us the power. It is God who keeps us focused on the right things. It is the Lord who helps us stay in balance as we strive to go faster and fly higher. If we want to bravely live “turbo style” we need to first acknowledge that we cannot achieve it on our own. We only can “do anything” because we serve a God for whom nothing is impossible. So what is our job? Be brave and trust! Stay focused—focused on prayer, focused on God’s Word, focused on the Almighty God and bringing glory to him. Let’s be sure that as we move forward and faster that we also become wiser. God is the one who gives wisdom. Start by seeking him and you will find true freedom to “live turbo style!”

"Love Broke Through" by Toby Mac
Impact
We believe one of the things that sets us apart from other fitness programs is our music. You won’t hear vulgar lyrics, suggestive themes, or inappropriate words. Simply put - our music will always be uplifting and positive. Something your whole family can listen to. We are grateful for the artists who continue to put out great music we can exercise to.

In light of this, we are going to begin featuring songs we use in our classes. Today is a sneak peek. Let us know what you think. Comment, post a story, or share it with your circle of influence. We’ll be posting these every Saturday, so make sure you check back to catch the next one. Enjoy!

Living Fully Present
Impact
As I sat down to have my quiet time with the Lord, I read in Sarah Young’s “Jesus Always” devotional - “strive to live more fully in the present, refusing to worry about tomorrow.” Those words really hit me hard, as I had been struggling with a health issue – one for which I really had no answers for. As I continued to read, I was reminded that striving to live this way involves focusing my effort and energy intentionally on walking in trust with the Lord, following His guidance each step. Striving…not to worry!

It’s hot today where I live. I mean, it’s 98° (I’m writing this before I’ve had breakfast!) and the heat index is 113°, with humidity of 62%. It’s not surprising that we’re under a heat advisory by the US National Weather Service. I’m a summer-lovin’ girl, but that’s hot, even for me. Now I’m not complaining, but to meet my exercise goals during the dog days of summer, is going to require a bit of creativity...and perhaps air conditioning. I want to stay active, stay hydrated, and stay away from my local urgent care with a heat-induced illness, and I want these for you as well. With these 3 parameters in mind, I must decide if I’m exercising outside or inside. If it’s outside, I’d better head out early in the morning, before the temperature involves 3 digits! If it’s inside, I need to choose exercises that fit into my available (air-conditioned) space. Keep reading for 4 C.O.O.L. exercises for summer.
